Edmonds/Kingston ferry

Edmonds/Kingston is the route I usually take to reach the peninsula to visit my parents in Bremerton. The alternative is Seattle/Bremerton but that involves driving further South on I-5 and the ferry ride is twice as long.

It's hard to explain without drawing a diagram but most of the cars waiting for the ferry in Edmonds have to park a couple blocks away from the dock. The first 40 or so cars in line get to wait on the dock and in all the years I've been taking this route I've only been up there once, so I took some pictures of the ferry approaching the dock that day.

  • Ferry #1
  • Ferry #2
  • Ferry #3 — Cars driving off the ferry, I like the green truck
  • Sunset — Standing on the Edmonds dock
  • Mt. Rainier — I took this standing on the ferry car deck. Look carefully and you can see the Bank of America tower in Seattle. It's the tallest building west of the Mississippi and twice the height of the Space Needle. (It's the tallest dark smudge below the mountain, on the left side.)
